What it does

PCS List Matcher compares one selected field from each of two lists. Exact matches can optionally ignore uppercase/lowercase differences and spaces at the start or end. It shows values in both lists, only in A, or only in B. Counts are distinct nonblank matching values. Repeated values are grouped without removing source rows. Blank keys are never matched and remain in the Excel report.

Different people may share a name or email; one person may have different identifiers. Use unique identifiers when possible. Matching does not verify identity, payment, attendance, email delivery or permission. The tool does not calculate invoice balances, infer missing fields, or use fuzzy matching.

Document and pasted-text review

Word (.docx), selectable-text PDFs, UTF-8 .txt and pasted text create editable suggested rows for mandatory review. Choose email contacts, one value per line, or a tab-separated table with headings. Email mode can suggest incorrect or missing names; phones are left blank. Check all rows and the full source against the original for missing or mixed entries. No OCR, images, older .doc files or password-protected PDFs. Empty PDF pages can contain unrecognized scans.

Limits

Files up to 10 MB each. Excel (.xlsx/.xls) and CSV: up to 10,000 data rows, 200 columns and 250,000 cells per selected worksheet. Header row 1–100. Document/pasted review: up to 1,000 rows and 1 million source characters, with PDFs up to 50 pages. Spreadsheet formulas are not recalculated; displayed/cached values are read. Protected, unusual or complex documents may not extract correctly. Limits and availability may change.

Exports

Original files are unchanged. Excel includes original row values and matching outcomes; CSV prefixes formula-like text with an apostrophe for safer spreadsheet opening. Excel preserves literal text. Review before importing or acting on results. Search and view filters do not limit exported reports. The tool is free, including downloads, without a guarantee of completeness or uninterrupted service.

Third-party software

Spreadsheet reading/writing: SheetJS CE 0.20.3 (Apache 2.0). Word text: Mammoth 1.13.0 (BSD). PDF text: PDF.js 6.4.299 (Apache 2.0). These readers are hosted locally with PCS tools. PCS is not affiliated with Microsoft or those projects.
