What the tool does

Contact List Cleaner helps tidy selected Excel and CSV contact tables. It can trim outer spaces, lowercase email addresses, group duplicate nonblank email values, flag basic email-format issues and missing required fields, and prepare a cleaned copy and review report. It preserves the selected spreadsheet columns. For Word (.docx), text-based PDFs, UTF-8 .txt files and pasted text, it suggests contact records for mandatory review. Extracted names can be incorrect or missing; phone numbers are left blank for manual entry. Contact details and source snippets can be edited before cleaning.

Review the result

Duplicate groups match email addresses ignoring case and outer spaces. Different people can share an address, and one person can use different addresses. Review conflicting records before deciding to keep, merge or exclude them. The tool does not match people by similar names.

Document extraction needs review

Every email-like occurrence becomes a suggested record; documents may contain signatures, headings, unrelated emails, multi-column layouts or contacts with no email. Review the entire extracted text and original document for missing contacts and incorrect associations. Extraction does not recognize scanned images, infer consent or guarantee completeness. Older .doc files and password-protected PDFs are not supported.

Formatting is not verification

A format check does not establish that an address exists or accepts mail. Unusual legitimate addresses may be flagged. No emails are sent, and consent, opt-outs, deliverability, phone numbers and postal addresses are not verified. Keep your permission and suppression records when importing contacts elsewhere.

Exports

The original file is not changed. CSV exports prefix formula-like text with an apostrophe for safer spreadsheet opening; use Excel exports to preserve literal text. Check the cleaned file and report before importing or acting on them. Working data is temporary: download what you need before clearing or closing the page.

Limits

This version supports .xlsx, .xls and CSV files up to 10 MB, with up to 10,000 data rows, 200 columns and 250,000 cells per sheet. Document imports also support .docx, text-based PDF and UTF-8 .txt files up to 10 MB, and pasted text up to 1 million characters. Review is limited to 1,000 extracted contacts per import and PDFs to 50 pages. It compares displayed or cached values, does not recalculate workbook formulas, and may not read protected or unusual workbooks. Availability and limits may change; no specific outcome or uninterrupted service is promised.

Third-party software

Spreadsheet parsing and Excel writing use SheetJS Community Edition 0.20.3 under its Apache 2.0 license. Word text extraction uses Mammoth 1.13.0 (BSD license); PDF text extraction uses PDF.js 6.4.299 (Apache 2.0 license). All readers are served locally with the tool. Practical Creator Studio is not affiliated with Microsoft, SheetJS or these projects.
